Christian Science Nurses
Christian Science nurses are experienced Christian
Scientists who are prepared to provide spiritual reassurance and
skillful physical care consistent with the theology of Christian
Science. Christian Science nursing includes practical care, such
as bathing, dressing wounds, assistance with mobility and so
forth. It does not include any form of medical treatment, such
as diagnosing, medicine, or therapy.
Anyone who is depending
solely on God for healing by applying the principles of Christian
Science, as explained in Science and Health with Key to the
Scriptures, may engage a nurse.
The standard of the
Christian Science nurse is found in the Manual of the Mother
Church, page 49, Article VIII, Section 31: Christian Science Nurse. SECT. 31. A member of The Mother Church who represents
himself
or herself as a Christian Science nurse shall be one who has a demonstrable
knowledge of Christian Science practice, who thoroughly
understands
the practical wisdom necessary in a sickroom, and who can take proper
care of the sick.
